• Seesé's journey has been a continuous exploration of fibers produced in Colombia. During our visit to the town of Santander, we had the opportunity to reach a cooperative of fique growers in Curití. Our encounter with the artisanal and sustainable production methods used to create fique fibers inspired us to incorporate this material into our creative process. We have come to appreciate the value of every natural step in the process, and are proud to support local communities while producing high-quality, sustainable products.

  • To highlight the talent of our Colombian artisans, we included another national fiber: Terlenka, a synthetic material produced in Bucaramanga. This shiny and sophisticated material is perfect for projects that require a touch of elegance. We also use natural cotton sourced from the Colombian coast, a beautiful thread that brings clarity to each space. This high-quality thread is recommended for residential use, and highlights the beauty and versatility of Colombian textiles even further.

Fique

Fique is a native plant of Colombia, whose fibers are used to make tying materials and fabrics. Fique is cultivated in the departments of Cauca, Nariño, Santander, Antioquia, and Boyacá. At Seesé.Ilumina, we work with the fique cooperative of Curití, Santander.

Terlenka

Terlenka is a synthetic thread made from nylon, produced in Colombia in the departments of Antioquia and Santander. It is used by artisans in our country for its durability, shiny texture, variety of colors, and quality. At Seesé.Ilumina, we weave with terlenka processed and manufactured in the city of Bucaramanga.

Cotton

Colombian cotton is one of the main textile products produced in the country and is the second most exported crop after coffee. It is planted between December and March in the departments of Vichada, Casanare, Meta, Magdalena, Guaviare, Atlántico, Cesar, Córdoba, Bolívar and Sucre. At Seesé.Ilumina, we weave with natural cotton from the Colombian coast.
